In January 2024, the Electronic Academy for Continuing Medical Education (EAPME) published the first Bulgarian online atlas of operative surgery on its website. The most commonly performed surgical interventions (including dermatosurgery) are presented step by step and accompanied by relevant photographic material.
The atlas is intended for Bulgarian postgraduate students and specialists from various surgical specialties and is available free of charge after registration on the Academy’s website.
When writing the first Bulgarian textbook on surgery, the first teacher of Bulgarian surgery of the 20th century Prof. Paraskev Stoyanov exclaimed. In the spirit of what Prof. Stoyanov The Electronic Atlas of Operative Surgery is dedicated to Bulgarian doctors and their patients, so that native doctors have a native textbook in their native language.
The atlas is a “living body” and is subject to continuous expansion, which can be contributed by colleagues from different medical specialties by providing their own descriptions based on a model of the operations they perform.
The first step has been taken, the way forward is open. It is up to us to walk it.
