Ricardo Vieira is a board certified dermatologist since 2005. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in 2014, working since then as Assistant Professor of Dermatology in the University of Coimbra. His clinical practice is based on dermatologic surgery, including Mohs surgery, and dermato-oncology, the two main fields of interest also in the research setting. Therefore, he contributed as co-author of several papers about dermatologic surgery (description of some novel surgical techniques, new insights about local flaps blood supply and also about grafts survival) and cutaneous oncology (studies about genetic changes in melanoma and melanoma progression, acting as well as principal investigator in clinical trials on skin cancer treatment. He is a Board Member of the European Association of Dermato-Oncology, contributing regularly as co-author to consensus-based guidelines on melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma and Kaposi sarcoma. He is also commonly invited as speaker in several international meetings, namely the EADV congress, the EADO congress and the World Congress of Melanoma.
